| Earned a softball scholarship in 1984 to Limestone College in Gaffney South Carolina, making the transition from slow pitch to fast pitch softball. A 4 year starter at short stop for the Nationally NAIA ranked Saints, Tracy earned All District Honors each year as a lead-off hitter or a number 3 hitter in the line-up, she maintained a career batting average of .351%. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education in 1988. In 1996, Tracy was inducted to The Limestone College Hall OF Fame at the celebration ceremony of its inaugural year. After college Tracy spent 11 years traveling the country playing Major Women’s and Major Co-ed softball. An experienced infielder at 3rd base and both middle infield positions she has had a distinguished career. She has been a member of a combined 5 USSSA World Series titles teams; 3 Major Women’s titles and 2 Major Co-ed Championship titles. Tracy has been named to a combination of 5 All World Teams with 1 Women’s Batting Champion Title at the 1999 Women’s World Series, and 2 Women’s MVP titles at the Coed World Series Championships. She has an ASA Nationals Coed title where she was named the female MVP in, and 3 NSA Coed World Series titles winning the female MVP and the Female Gold Glove twice. After the 1999 World Series Keefer retired from playing to concentrate on her own high school program and athletes. Since graduating from Limestone, Tracy has earned a Masters Degree in Learning Disabilities from Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia. Currently in her 15th year of teaching Physical Education and coaching, she is the Head Softball Coach ( 9th year) at Dacula High School in Dacula, Georgia. Tracy has had the experience of coaching, tennis, boys and girls basketball, and softball (fast and slow–pitch) at the Middle and High School levels. She has also coached both fast and slow-pitch 18 and under traveling softball. Through coaching Tracy has had the opportunity to mentor over 20 young ladies that have pursued their softball careers in college from Junior college to Division I. In 1996, Dacula began it transition from slow-pitch to fast pitch with Keefer at the helm. The program’s inaugural year was spent getting it’s feet wet playing a JV schedule. As a Class AA school playing at AAA competition the Dacula Falcons made their first trip to State Play-offs within their second year of Varsity competition in 1998, finishing 5th with a 23-14 record. In 1999,the Falcons added a repeat appearance, record and finish. Since then Dacula has climbed to, AAAAA classification, remaining competitive with in an extremely tough Region. In 2002 the Falcons returned to the State Play-offs and finished in the top 16. In 2004 , Coach Keefer ( 131 – 101) took her High School team to a Colorado Tournament that included State Champions in all High School classifications from both Colorado and some teams from Oklahoma to see how her Falcons would match up to the competition out West. The Lady Falcons wound up in 2nd place behind Oaklahoma’s Owasso High School. Returning to Georgia, the Falcons narrowly missed a chance at the State Play-offs by one game, while posting a 21 -7 record on the season. |
