Before attending a BLU CHIP EVENTS recruiting/exposure camp, it is very important that every student-athlete and parent understand how college recruiting works.
Coaches and representatives from many different
types of colleges search for prospective players at our camps that will positively impact their team(s) in the future; academically and athletically. This includes NCAA Division I-II-III, NAIA, and Junior Colleges. Players and parents are encouraged to visit the websites of these organizations and become familiar with recruiting guidelines and rules.
Most coaches already have players in mind that they
are interested in. They received previous information
about a player either in the format of a letter of
interest from the player, a video presentation sent to
them by the player, or information about the player
from a travel or high school coach.
Coaches talk amongst other coaches, recruiters, and camp directors; word
of mouth is a major factor in recruiting. Just because a certain player
may not be the right fit for one coach and team does not mean they are
not 'perfect' for another. (Good) Coaches and recruiters share this
information with one another to help better competition and to generally
help each other out. Phone calls and other correspondence happen every
single day along these lines. This a truly a great thing for everyone
involved - most importantly the student-athlete.
Coaches begin tracking recruits as early as the
freshman year of high school and become very
knowledgeable of the players they are tracking by
their junior year of high school.
